Most people wait far too long to get their eyes checked, not because they are careless, but because vision changes in real life can be subtle, gradual, and easy to explain away. A person notices the text on a phone looks slightly less crisp at night, or that their eyes feel tired after a long workday, or that driving home after sunset takes more effort than it used to.
